Smoke and carbon monoxide alarms are an important part of property safety. Landlords and letting agents should keep clear records of alarms present at the property and any issues noted during inspections.
While an inspection report is not a substitute for specialist testing or servicing, it can provide useful evidence of visible alarms, power test observations and any concerns identified during the visit.
LPSR reports can include practical notes on alarms where they are visible and accessible at the time of inspection.
Inspection notes may include:
- Whether alarms are visible in key areas.
- Whether an audible power test was carried out.
- Whether any alarm appeared missing, damaged or inaccessible.
- Whether further landlord or contractor action may be required.
